ABOUT US
TAHIMA is a professional organization serving the Tacoma area since 1965. Since that time, our purpose hasn't changed one bit. We exist to serve the Health Information community. We provide a local source of learning and earning of continuing education credits, opportunities for networking with local and national professionals, and discussions of the many challenges specific to our field.

Current officers
President - Kim Lee, RHIA, CCS-P, CPC
Kim Lee began her HIM career in 1995. She graduated from TCC's HIM program and then went on to obtain her RHIT, CPC, and CCS-P. She graduated from The College of Saint Scholastica in Duluth, Minnesota and received a Bachelor of Arts in Health Information Administration and successfully passed the RHIA exam the same year. Kim also holds a minor from The College of Saint Scholastica in Computer Science. Kim's expertise is in physician coding, reimbursement, the various PPS, and the electronic health record.
President Elect - Kazumi Cornell, RHIA
Kazumi is coordinator of My HealtheVet (MHV) and serves as the facility champion for the MHV program and is responsible for promoting the VA’s award winning personal health record.
Treasurer - Jeanette Chunko, RHIT
Jeanette works for the Department of Veterans Affairs at the Washington Soldier's Home in Orting which is a long-term care facility with 3 levels of care. In her spare time, she enjoys bicycling and working on a farm with animals and gardening.
Secretary - Kami O’Donnell, RHIT
Kami works as a remote coder in HIM operations with Group Health Cooperative. She is a Tacoma Community College graduate.

Student Director - Debbie Mitzlaff
Debbie Mitzlaff is a current, second year student in the Health Information Management Program at Tacoma Community College and is scheduled to graduate from the program in June, 2012. Debbie’s previous experience includes working as an adaptive technologist with college students who have disabilities.
Student Director - Carey Flewelling
Carey Flewelling is approximately halfway through the HIM program. She is also working towards the eHIM certificate. She is scheduled to graduate in June of 2013. Carey has worked in industries such as transportation and building materials, and she is looking forward to working in the wonderful world of HIM. On a personal note Carey and her husband have 6 kids in their blended family (but only one at home). She has 2 wonderful grandsons and loves being a grandparent!
Webmaster - Jonathan Eastabrooks, RHIA
Jonathan works as an HIM instructor at Tacoma Community College. He graduated from Tacoma Community College's Health Information Technology program in 2004 and the University of Washington's Health Informatics and Health Information Management program in 2009.
